Main Conference

This year’s JCDL is the first hybrid event for the Digital Libraries community, comprising on-site and virtual conference presentations.  JCDL 2022 main conference will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in hybrid format (online and at Art’otel Cologne).

 

Papers

 

In total  24 research papers, 11 late-breaking research papers, 3 data sets, and 7 demonstrations will be presented throughout the three main conference days. The main conference program is organized into 11 plenary sessions on the following topics: information retrieval and access, search and recommendation, natural language processing, web archives, bibliometrics & altmetrics, information extraction, classification, and scholarly communication. 

 

Keynotes and Invited Talks

 

Two academic experts will give a keynote on Tuesday and Wednesday.  

    • Professor York Sure-Vetter: “German National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) – Structure and Perspective” 
    • Professor Dania Bilal: “Human-information Behavior and Interaction: Envisioning a Paradigm Shift” 

In addition, we are happy to announce two additional invited papers at JCDL 2022

    • Michael L. Nelson & Herbert Van de Sompel: “D-Lib Magazine pioneered Web-based Scholarly Communication”
    • Heike Winschiers-Theophilus: “Bridging Worlds: Indigenous Knowledge in the Digital World”

Tutorials

Open Refine to Wikibase – Lucia Sohmen and Lozana Rossenova

The tutorial aims to help researchers, digital collection librarians and data managers make their datasets available as linked open data.

Building Digital Library Collections with Greenstone~3 – David Bainbridge

The tutorial is designed for those who want an introduction to building a digital library using an open source software program.

Doctoral Consortium

The DC is organised by Michele C. Weigle, Jöran Beel, and Norbert Fuhr. 5 PhD students present their research projects in a hybrid format at TH-Köln. Attendees are more than welcome to join the Doctoral Consortium.
